As I sit here at my desk waiting for some final pictures to come in, I am taking a moment to reflect on the time it has taken to get to this point at Honor Beach.
It really started when trying to find a beach bag large enough to fit all my towels and the paraphernalia that comes with having two small kids and going to the seaside. There were some lovely, pretty ones around, just not particularly big! So I began to think about how I could make my own. I then also started to notice that as I got (a little) older, the beach collections I had once loved and saved up to buy - just didn't seem to fit with my lifestyle anymore. I didn't want to feel self conscious walking around, perhaps going to buy a drink or have some lunch on holiday. I wanted to feel confident, a little bit covered up but still feeling I was looking good. So the idea for the cover ups came.
The other issue was price, it had to be under £100 - so still a treat but not so much you would be scared to wear it for fear of getting suntan cream or sticky fingers on it. I wanted to make sure that I could supply lovely fabric (in this case %100 cotton) in fun, fresh and vibrant colours that could be used again and again, year after year. So really classic items that shouldn't date.
The creative process has been long, but really, really fun. Now I just need to see how my marketing and sales skills come in to play.
I just can't wait to start and if you are reading this blog, it means I have pressed the 'go live' button - it has begun...
